Modern Relics

Residency and installation combining museum artefacts and my own work

This body of work was the result of a residency in the Bucks County Museum .

The installation used 45 objects I selected from Museum incredible stores off items not usually on display as a starting point. These objects are archeological finds or treasures from the local Bucks area.

The reasons I selected each item was not based on any particular features of the object itself, but the shape of the packaging within which it was stored. I was interested in the negative spaces in the foam when the item was removed.

I was able to trace the outline of this storage foam, create digital files and generate my own shapes to work with during the residency .

All the work I made uses the shapes from the packaging to create a new set of modern relics.
