Whilst in Japan I saw an exhibition of ancient Chinese ceremonial drinking bronzes. This sculpture draws inspiration from the unusual shape of these objects, which archaeologists still are unsure of what its purpose is for.
This is my modern take on the ancient design, adorned with fashion motifs and other logos that I feel represent or go hand in hand with contemporary drinking culture, and our new approach to consuming alcohol.
For christening of the vessel I took it to an ‘ancient’ stone circle , actually build in the 1990s, which was in the news recently for confusing historians about its age.
This sculpture is available to rent for any ceremonial drinking events, celebrations parties or raves.
